New At Kate Landers Events, LLC: {Stylish Guest Party Features}

I am *very* excited to introduce to you the newest addition to the Kate Landers Events, LLC, blog: stylish guest party features.
From time to time I will be featuring guest children's parties and baby showers.  I will also feature some  dessert tables that display lovely products, unique design ideas, unexpected color-schemes and special sweets. At the end of each post I will list for you style notes to take from the party.



To kick off this exciting new series, I would like to share with you an ice cream dessert table designed by Suzanna of Mon-Tresor in Sydney, Australia.  She just hosted a darling 3rd birthday party for her precious son Maddox (looking sharp in front of the gorgeous blue ruffled table linens behind him), with an Ice Cream Parlour theme and her first (might I say successful!) attempt at designing a dessert table.



Ice cream was served in white buckets wrapped in chocolate ribbon and a darling custom printed label (you may remember our ice cream party, where ice cream was served in light blue beach pails and attached were custom printed signs). I love the old fashioned ice cream scoops that are tied with blue ribbon at the handles.


The liquid toppings were displayed in a darling fashion. I especially like the vintage lace and twine elements.


I enjoy how creative Suzanna was as she displayed the dry toppings in take-out food boxes in a pale blue, each lined with food-safe paper, and adorned with a chocolate ribbon and custom printed tag.


Suzanna e-mailed me a short while back to ask for advice on the backdrop of her dessert table. We talked about her gorgeous color-scheme of chocolate, light pink, pale blue and white. I love what she decided to do: hang beautiful satin ribbons, creating the illusion of stripes, in a very whimsical way (notice just a hint of pink).


Cake pops, one of the newest dessert table staples, look sweet and like small scoops of vanilla ice cream, drizzled with light blue frosting detail.


Large clear glass apothecary-style jars feature taffy and chocolate, all in her color-scheme of course. I like how she looped the ribbon around the top of the jars, let the tails of the ribbon hang, and attached sweet and simple custom printed signs (for a similar design of the ribbon and signs on apothecary jars, you can view my  mystical mermaid party).


For the smaller jars, she opted to tie the ribbon around the middle of the jar, and attach the label front center.


A sweet element: the blue and white striped custom wrappers on candy bars, with custom printed ice cream tags (notice the spectacular ice cream sundae cookies on your right).


Speaking of custom printed ice cream graphics, a charming custom printed sign was created for the party. I particularly love the frame stand that it is displayed in--a perfect way to display sweet signs like this one.


Another trend right now are paper straws, bottles, and darling straw flags (you can view straw flags from our gingham party that were used in strawberry milkshakes--wish we had these paper straws for that one!)


I love these letter cups, and especially how she spelled out "Ice Cream" with them.


Another hot trend in parties at the moment is "cake bunting". I designed a cake last March with this same concept, and loved it! I love how Suzanna left the cake looking simple and sweet, to allow the darling bunting, strung together and adorned with twine, to really stand out.



{Styling To Note From This Dessert Table}

Color Scheme: Suzanna shows that hints of pink are perfectly appropriate for a boy, especially when paired with chocolate and light blue.

Ribbon background: A creative backdrop for your dessert table, especially when designed inside of a white tent like Suzanna's where you can hang the ribbons on the framework of the tent.

Tiered ruffle table linens:  A beautiful change from the traditional table linens. With the tiered ruffle table covering, I do suggest being sure to keep it simple (all one color like Suzanna did is a great option) so that it doesn't distract from the desserts themselves.

Fabric and twine cake bunting: A darling idea. Be sure that the skewers you use as "poles" for the bunting are food safe before you insert into your cake. Suzanna did a great job keeping the cake clean and simple, so that the cake bunting would stand out.

How beautiful! I'm doing a very similar ribbon background at my daughter's Cornish Fairies party this Friday, and what luck to see a sneak peek of the concept a few days early! I'm even more excited now, seeing how beautifully this version turned out.
