How Can Kate Landers Events, LLC, Plan My Party?


Kate Landers specializes in creating extraordinary celebrations. She thrives on working with unique themes and designs events that are inspired by the imagination. You will rarely find Kate not dreaming up the details for your next event.
So how, you may ask, can Kate help you create your next event? Here is some insight we hope you find helpful!
Q: I want a unique theme for my child's party, but am stumped. Do you have a theme list?
A: I love designing parties with unusual, even extraordinary, imaginative themes. I do not have a set theme list, because I find there to be as many ways to celebrate as there are children in this world! Therefore, I work with you in creating a custom theme (or a unique take on a more common theme) that suits you and your child specifically. I am more than happy to provide you with a list of themes to help the brainstorming process, but every party is custom created.
Q: Do you only use your own products from your Shoppe when designing events?
A: Absolutely not! I dream up ideas and will either locate a source for the products that make up that vision, or else will have them custom created for you. I also customize suggestions based upon your given budget.
Q: I see you are located in Boston. Do you plan parties outside of your area?
A: Absolutely! I have planned parties in California, Tennessee, Texas, Florida...the list continues to grow. I truly believe every child deserves to be celebrated, and therefore I hope to continue to take my party planning services far beyond the greater Boston area.
Q: What "party planning services" do you offer? I don't see a comprehensive list on your website.
A: Our website will be undergoing a makeover over the coming months for easier navigation, and will include an entire page dedication to party planning services. It will also feature a gallery for you to browse samples of some previous parties I have created.

Q: I don't see a comprehensive price list for most of your services. What do your parties cost?

A: Our parties are all custom tailored to the needs and wishes of our clients, therefore there is no set published price list. No two parties are ever exactly alike. The cost for our services varies greatly based on such a large number of factors (such as the number of guests and whether you want a $65 cake or $1000 cake), therefore we will gladly offer you a personalized price quote for your event.

Also, we should note when you book full-service party planning with Kate Landers Events, LLC, you receive a generous discount on any products you purchase from our Shoppe (including many custom items) for your party!

Q: Do you offer party planning consulting at an hourly rate if I just want help with a few things in regards to my party?

A: Yes! We do offer consulting for $60/hour, with a minimum one hour consultation.

Q: How far in advance do you book parties? And, is a deposit required?

A: Wow, terrific questions there!

We typically suggest booking your party at a minimum of 2-6 months in advance. We already have parties booked a year in advance (repeat clients).

Occasionally we are able to accommodate parties under shorter notice (we have in as little as 3 weeks), so we encourage you to contact us with your request. We should note that rush fees may apply to get all the products and services you request within your time frame.

A deposit is required to guarantee the requested date of your event. The deposit amount is either a flat fee or % of your total personalized price quote.

Q: How many parties do you do in a given month?

A: I (Kate) am a perfectionist in my party planning, and put in hours upon hours, days upon days in to each event to make sure that it is a stress-free event for you, and extraordinary event for your child and his/her/their guests. When you book Kate Landers Events, LLC, to plan your next party, you know you are getting Kate's undivided attention and meticulous attention to detail.

Therefore I currently only take a maximum of 2 parties per month (and at that, only one per weekend). If you want a la carte planning services (such as just a custom sweet table display), then I will allow for up to one event per week.

Q: Does Kate plan every event, or are there other employees who do the planning?

A: At this time, you always get Kate!

Q: Do you only plan parties for children?

A: Kate specializes in events for children, in particular stylish birthday celebrations. However, we also plan christenings, baby namings, first communions, baby showers, and adoption welcome home or coming home anniversary parties. We do on occasion accept custom events upon request, so please do not hesitate to inquire.

Babiekins Magazine Debut, Editorial by Kate Landers Events, LLc

Priscila Barros is the mastermind behind Little Miss Heirlooms website, and now she has created a new masterpiece, Babiekins online magazine. It was just released today and I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the darling products, features on fabulous designers, checking out the latest trends in toddler fashion, and it was of course a treat to see how the "5 Party Tips" section I contributed to came out.

Adoption Welcome Home Party

I'm getting to that age where some friends are getting married, others have been married for awhile, and some are starting families. For some who wish to have children and are unable to, adoption pops up as their way to fulfill their dreams of starting a family.

I realized soon after that having a traditional baby shower simply doesn't always work. Why? Because not all of their precious children come home swaddled with a hospital bracelet straight after delivery. In some cases, and in particular I am reminded of my dear friend Corinne and her five beautiful children (three of whom she and her husband Ryan adopted) the children are toddlers, even in kindergarten or first grade.

You want to shower your friends with gifts for this tremendous blessing of a child they has been waiting for years on end now, but how do you celebrate?

With a Welcome Home Party, of course!

I am now adding "Welcome Home" parties to my list of custom events for children that I provide. They are incredibly heartfelt and treasured events.

As you know, I believe every child deserves to be celebrated, and I can't think of a more important celebration than this!

One of my favorite invitations for the perfect Welcome Home Party is from our line of stitched invitations: The sweet flowers (available in pink, light blue and lavender). Our Big Day



Kate & Ryan's Wedding

I know this isn't a birthday party feature, but is IS a celebration we spent over a year planning and enjoyed tremendously! Not to mention some of you have been asking for a bit more about "Kate" behind Kate Landers Events, LLC, so here is a little glimpse!

We were blessed to have our wedding selected by The Knot Magazine and published in "The Knot: Southern California" edition. Such joy for a girl like me who had been dreaming of her wedding from the age of 5!

I wanted to share with you some images here (by the amazing photography duo Miki & Sonja), and also provide you with the link to our feature on "The Knot" to see the whole story if you so choose!

Our wedding took place on a spectacular day in July in Santa Barbara, California in 2006.



My wedding gown was one I fell in love with instantly: by designer Carolina Herrera, featuring a champagne sash. My shoes were by one of my favorite designers, Kate Spade. Ryan and all the groomsmen (and our fathers) wore khaki suits and pink ties--Ryan's was by Thomas Pink.



Peonies are my favorite flower, and I adore roses having grown up attending the "Rose Parade" every year in Pasadena, California. My bouquet, designed by GrassRoots Florist in Santa Barbara, included pale pink and white flowers: peonies, roses, hydrangea, and lily of the valley. It smelled delightful! Midori pale pink satin ribbon wrapped the stems.



My dearest bridesmaids wore dresses made of a beautiful pale pink shantung silk designed by Jenny Yoo--they were tea length, perfect for a morning wedding ceremony.



Our reception was held at The Four Seasons Biltmore Resort, and having a seaside reception inspired our scallop shell seating cards (cards printed by Blonde Designs). They looked fantastic on the burlap table linen.



Oh, the cake! I love the look of fondant, and all things monogrammed, so we went with a 3 tiered square light pink fondant cake with our monogram and gorgeous white fondant flowers, designed by The Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara. Each tier was a different flavor, all of which would make you drool: chocolate cake with strawberry and whipped cream filling; coconut cake with chocolate ganache; lemon chiffon cake with lemon and whipped cream.

Lastly, some favors for the "kids": old fashioned rootbeer and strawberry flavored barbor-poles by Hammonds Candies, tied with personalized double-faced Midori satin ribbon, imprinted with chocolate script.



I could do an entire blog on our wedding, so many other details I would love to share (the fireplace roaring with mantle covered in boughs of Bells of Ireland and framed portraits of our parents and grandparents weddings), but I am afraid I don't have all the space! Felt Fairy Wings!

I just love these fabulous felt fairy wings! All of the spring blossoms and promise of butterlies returning for the season made me think of them--a perfect spring treat for any little girl!



Each pair of felt fairy wings is hand made, and all are custom made to order, in a variety of color selections.



Note that there are NO WIRES, they are incredibly soft yet sturdy (kid-tested!) and feature the most darling felt flowers and satin ribbon to turn them into something almost magical!
