Kate Landers Events, LLC {Party Tip Friday}

It's {Party Tip Friday} at Kate Landers Events, LLC!

Today's tip is short and simple, but I find incredibly helpful.

Kate's Party Tip: Do Party Set Up And Prep Work BEFORE The Day Of The Party.

Sounds so simple, right? Yet we all know it isn't always as easy as it sounds.

It is incredibly helpful, for when I design parties, or when friends, family or fans do their own parties, to give yourself time.

I can't stress enough how many hiccups may arise when you are getting ready the morning of the party, and by setting up the night before (or even days before, if you can), the relief is tremendous, and you will often allow yourself to ENJOY the party so much more--you are the hostess, and do deserve to take joy in the celebration, after all!

I suggest the following:

1) Putting together party favors in advance. If you have a spare bedroom, even a clean laundry room where you can lay things out and keep the door shut safe from sticky fingers, this is great to have a special place designated for storing all the party treats.

2) If using tissue poms or other decorations that require assembly, do the assembly early--maybe while watching tv or during nap time. And if you do the tissue poms, be sure to store them hanging as opposed to sitting somewhere--they will look the most fresh, crisp and beautiful if you don't let them touch the ground or a flat surface (I learned this one the hard way!)

3) Confirm rentals, cake orders, foral arrangements, etc, a few days before the party. This will help make sure that your orders are correct, that they have the proper delivery address or pick up time, to give you peace of mind.

There are several more tips, but these are three that I hope will help you greatly.

And again, they may sound so incredibly obvious, but it is actually taking the time to follow and implement them, where you will see that they can be a bit more challenging than you first thought. I am the first one to admit to that!

Hope you enjoyed these!

Was this helpful?

Kate Landers Events,LLC {Thursday Treasures}

After an overwhelmingly positive response to our {Thursday Treasures} debut feature, I am happy to bring you a new treasury this Thursday!

{Real Parties}

Ballet Party

As you may have read in my feature in Life: Beautiful Magazine, ballet has been a very important part of my life. Therefore, when I saw this precious pink ballerina birthday party by Melissa, I was instantly in love.

The incredibly talented Melissa has created some of the most amazing parties for her children, and often designs the invitations and other party details herself.

This invitation is nothing short of darling! Check out the full feature on Stylish Children's Parties here.

Vintage Strawberry Shortcake-Inspired Party

Once again the ever-talented Jessica provides loads of inspiration and charm with her vintage Strawberry Shortcake-inspired party. Jessica created a party that is very, berry sweet.

You will not want to miss all the incredible details. Hop over to Stylish Children's Parties for the entire feature here.

I know there are no boy parties featured this week, but get ready for some fabulous ones next week, sure to inspire you! I have some incredible *new* parties to feature on Stylish Children's Parties, and as soon as I can get caught up I will be sure to feature them, and share with you for loads of inspiration!

{Inspirational Women To Watch}

Chris Nease, Celebrations At Home

Chris is the talent behind Celebrations At Home. Her motto is to make the small celebrations in life stylish, and memorable. Not only does she have a wonderful blog featuring inspiring parties designed by others, but she is also a gifted party planner herself (check out her newest venture "Petite Celebrations" she will be launching soon--I personally can't wait!).

If that isn't enough, she creates custom inspiration boards and helped organize a fabulous group baby shower for the organization Operation Shower.

I'm obviously not the first to discover Chris and all of her many talents. Chris has been featured in the Richmond Times Dispatch, filmed a tv segment for Virginia This Morning (sharing budget friendly party ideas), and contributed to The Clutterbug's Guide to an Organized Christmas on Christmas entertaining. I highly doubt that the list will end here for her, either.

I am personally inspired by Chris and her ability to follow her passion for parties & entertaining, all the while using her talents to serve others. She has an eye for style and kindness that makes her a true standout in the industry.

Chris is well-established in the party planning blog world, and I can't wait to see what fabulous project or party she creates next!

Kori Clark, Kori Clark Designs

Kori Clark is a young woman with loads of talent, and a unique ability to use her design skills (she has a degree in Interactive Media) across many boards. Kori does free lance graphic design work (check out her website Kori Clark Designs), and in 2009 launched Kori & Kate with her talented photographer & friend Kate. Their business was created to offer beautiful templates for photographers--from albums to cards, marketing materials and more.

If that isn't enough, check out her newest venture, a darling line of printable party products and invitations, at Paper & Pigtails (I had the honor of working with her and Lindsey of Bella Grace Party Designs, as they created the stunning Woodland Fairy Party invitation & treats for me!). You can see the darling work of Paper & Pigtails featured on the biggest party blogs out there, like Hostess With The Mostess. I have no doubt we will be seeing a lot more of Kori and Paper & Pigtails, making a big spalsh in the world of children's party printables...and beyond!

Kori is also a devoted mother, and is testing out her own party planning skills with her daughter's upcoming birthday (a charming pink and green turtle party, one I simply can't wait to see!). I have no doubt she will soon discover she has talent in event design as well.

Kori is incredibly inspirational in her ability to be fearless in trying new things with her passion for design, expanding the ways she uses her design talents, and still stays devoted to her dear family.

Priscila Barros, Little Miss Heirlooms

Priscila was the very first lovely woman to reach out to me when I launched Kate Landers Events, LLC, in October 2009. She is incredibly endearing, and one of the best motivational speakers you will ever meet. A devoted mother to her darling sons, Priscila also manages to find time to build her Little Miss Heirlooms empire.

Priscila has her own shop, offering vintage pieces for children. I love vintage products, so this drew me in right away. She also has a fabulous blog, where she features some of the most incredible hidden talents in the world of children's style and design, worldwide. That's right, Priscila features businesses and entrepreneurs from around the globe, exposing the greatest in children's fashion, products, and parties, of course. I find her blog an absolute must to follow, keeping you in the loop on the latest and greatest new finds for children out there. She also is known for featuring some pretty amazing giveaways, too.

It was this year that Priscila took a huge leap and decided to launch her own e-zine, Babiekins. Wow. For those of you who know what it takes to put together an e-zine, you probably have a tremendous appreciation for her work here. She is constantly working on incorporating new product and talent in her online magazine, staging photo shoots and writing up articles designed to help you make every day of your modern life with your child stylish, with vintage inspiration.

Priscila is so incredibly passionate about what she does, is full of motivation and with her ambition I see she has the capability of growing her business even further. One of my favorite things about Priscila, is that when you converse with her through e-mail, she somehow makes you feel as if you are together in a cafe sipping iced tea and munching on cake truffles. She's genuine, and thoughtful.

{Fabulous Blogs To Follow}

There are two fabulous blogs I want to share with you today.

The first is In Good Company.
I know I recently blogged about their feature on our Woodland Fairy Party in their July issue, but I wanted to stress what a terrific and incredibly resourceful
blog they truly are.

If you aren't following In Good Company yet, you might want to take a moment to check them out, now. Just see what you have been missing!

The second blog is Sweetopia.
For those of you who love creating extraordinary sweet treats for your parties, this is a *fabulous* place to find loads of inspiration. You will find recipes, tutorials, and some of the yummiest eye candy out there. Hop on over to
Sweetopia, and stay for awhile!

Thank you so much for reading this week's {Thursday Treasures}! Please be sure to nominate someone you know for a feature--whether it is their real party, their blog, or them as an inspirational woman to know! You never know, you might just find them featured here...send nominations to landers.kate@gmail.com.

Our Woodland Fairy Party Feature, In Good Company {Press}

When I was contacted by In Good Company shortly after the debut of my Woodland Fairy Party, I was so incredibly honored and thrilled that they found my party, and wanted to feature it in their July 2010 issue. WOW!

If you are not familiar with In Good Company, I highly suggest you check them out. They offer some of the cutest party products you will ever see, available in their shop!!!!
In their July issue, you can view the 11 page beautiful spread on our Woodland Fairy Party, featuring photos, details, and one of the best parts: at the end of the feature, a how to re-create this look page featuring some other products they suggest (you will LOVE!) that would be perfect for your own Woodland Party!
They have a fabulous blog, website, and monthly newsletter/magazine. On top of that, they are some of the absolute loveliest people you will ever get to know, and that goes a long way, in my book!

In Good Company is an absolute *MUST ADD* to your party index of blogs to follow, and products to use for your next event! I am so in love with much of what they offer, don't be surprised if you see me using a few of their goodies in my upcoming events.

And don't forget about Paper & Pigtails, who created the amazing invitations and select darling woodland fairy themed printed treats for the party--you will see their beautiful products featured in the magazine as well, as they were a huge part of what made this party what it was!
An over-the-top super huge thank you to In Good Company, not only for their lovely feature, but also for the kindest words they wrote in their "few good words" feature published July 8th, listed below:

In case you can't read it, I will share with you the sweetest words they wrote, that had me glowing for days!
"Kate Landers should be nominated for the party of the year, her Enchanted Forest Party is in a word "spectacular" and best of all she has shared with all of us her secrets including how to make those chocolate bird nests and her source for the lovely invitations and cupcake pics: Paper & Pigtails (who ship to SA!)."
I am truly flattered by your generousity and kind words. Thank you dearly!
And just when I couldn't get over that...I discovered the lovliest blog post today on our gingham party, which you can check out here.
Oh, and in their August issue, see our darling Melamine Tumblers on the cover!
In Good Company, simply amazing.

Thank you so much for your unbelievable support, kindness, generousity, and just being you!

I apologize for the long delay in correspondence. Kate Landers Events, LLC {Thursday Treasures}

I would love to introduce you all to Kate Landers Events, LLC's {Thursday Treasures} series! A blog post that will share with you lots of treasures I have found to inspire you!

(Thank you all for your incredible kindness, prayers and support in regards to the passing of my grandmother. It is a difficult time for my family--most of all, my grandfather, and your continued support is much appreciated. Due to the circumstances, I may or may not be blogging for a bit, but I wanted to make sure I got this post out, as I think you will all *love* the inspiration!)

Part I: {Real Parties}

I have been blown away by the real parties that I have seen lately, and have a whole line up of many more yet to be featured on my other blog, Stylish Children's Parties. I apologize for not getting to post all of them quickly as planned, but promise there is much to look forward to. In the meantime, here are some fabulous real parties we featured in the last week, that I think you might want to check out if you haven't already!

A Vintage Chick{en} First Birthday Party

Styled by Jennifer Birkhead of Jennifer Birkhead Design, I can't get enough of this party. Utterly A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Hop over to the feature to find the link to see more!

A "Cars" Inspired Birthday Party

Designed by Danielle of Belleza e Luce, a fabulous party with no detail left out. As you know I prefer parties that don't include cartoon character images, but Danielle made this one as GREAT as you could imagine and I just KNOW that the children at the party had to have *loved* it. To see Danielle's amazing work, check out the full feature!

An "Alice In Wonderland" Inspired Birthday Party

Morgann of Adisten's Closet created this absolutely PRECIOUS party, in the sweetest color scheme (she also made all the custom onesies and tutus, and tissue poms too!). Truly in love with this party, and her talent. Adore. Check it out!

A "Dr. Seuss" Inspired Birthday Party

Jessica has quite the party styling skills for someone who doesn't do this as a profession {yet...}! I simply adore her creativity (in particular those party hats!!!) at this charming party. I think you will adore so many of the details she incorporated, WOW! See the party, and you will know what I am talking about.

Part II: {Inspirational Success}

I can't tell you how joyful I am about all of the amazing success of women in the party planning and design world lately. There are so many, but here are a few I wanted to be sure to share with you:

Kim Stoegbauer, The TomKat Studio

Kim was recently featured on Martha Stewart's Dreamers Into Doers Website and Newsletter, as the Doer Of The Week. She shares a fabulous interview in her feature, well-worth checking out. I find Kim as a *wonderful* example of a successful entrepreneur, and hope you will be as inspired by her as I have. (By the way, you will note many of us party planners all became aware of the concept of joining Martha Stewart's amazing "Dreamers Into Doers" after hearing of her feature--so whether Kim was aware or not, she inspired many by her post. I encourage *you* to become a Martha Stewart Dreamer Into Doer!

Courtney Dial, Pizzazzerie
Courtney has filmed segments for Better Nashville and More at Midday in Nashville, Tennessee. sharing her tips and party styling. That's right--she's on tv!!! Courtney is one of the most rapidly successful young women when it comes to promoting her business, and is taking the lead when it comes to social media and marketing of her "guides"--you can check out Courtney's site on entertaining here. Oh, and Courtney also was featured in print, in Nashville Lifestyles magazine (I can't wait to receive my copy!). If you are looking to promote your stationery or gifts, I suggest you chat with Courtney!

Amy Atlas, Amy Atlas Events

Amy Atlas has practically become the newest household name in stylish entertaining, with her unbelievable rare talent in designing dessert tables that are truly, works of art. She has a gift of being able to create a presentation (like a full performance on stage behind the velvet curtains) with each of her dessert tables. Amy has perfected her designs and has been featured in publications too numerous to post here (check out her press page for the full list!), however most recently you may have seen her in InStyle Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, or heard her on Martha Stewart Radio. Oh, and she just worked with Kelly Ripa for a darling Electrolux event, and styled one of Brooke Sheild's daughter's birthday parties too. Amy is a truly remarkable, successful entrepreneur, and one I suggest checking out if you don't know of her already. She will never cease to inspire you, with amazing tips, guest dessert table features, and her new vlogs, too. If you are looking for valuable advice and tutorials on how to better your own dessert tables, Amy's blog is a place you will want to check out--daily.

Part III: {Superb Sites}

There are two wonderful party blogs that I want to introduce you to. You very may well know of them already, but in case you didn't see them yet, I wanted to make sure you were aware of what you were missing out on!

Party School 101: A Charming Newsletter

Children's Party Planner Extraordinaire Brittany has designed an incredible summer party series that is well worth checking out. She shares DIY tutorials, party crafts, tips, insider secrets, and her beautiful images will knock your socks off! She is truly a stand out (her parties have me drooling, I can't wait to collaborate with her--a dream!), and her summer party school series is a MUST in my book. A tremendous thank you to Brittany, for sharing so many wonderful resources with us all--you are a true gem (oh, and thank you for featuring our darling cloth napkins with rick rack trim in some of your photos, too!)

Hip Hip Hooray! Blog

A fun new blog dedicated to children's parties, featuring some outstanding contributors. While Suann Song's blog is ever so new to the party blog world, I have no doubt it will become one of the great ones in no time at all. Congratulations Suann and the entire contributing team!

Please let me know what you think of the new {Thursday Treasures} feature! Do you like it? Would you like to see it as a regular feature on a weekly basis? Your comments are very welcome and MUCH appreciated!

Gingham Sweet Table

I am thrilled to share with you the sweet table design from The Gingham Collection!

With a joyfully overwhelming response to the new line, I thought it fitting to share the darling dessert table to match.
Yesterday I shared with you the images of the gingham party table set up (a re-creation using the custom products I had designed for Life: Beautiful Magazine, Summer 2010 issue), and as promised, today I am sharing the sweet table!

I can't express enough how much the bunting completed the look tying in the theme and color-scheme, bringing together the party table and sweet table perfectly.

I selected candy, much of which is old-fashioned, to add loads of charm, and match the color-scheme of pink, orange, yellow and green.

Always love salt water taffy...

Old fashioned lemon twist candy sticks (these are soft!)...
One of my personal favorites: Old fashioned candy ribbons--these are bubblegum flavor.
Loving the ruffled edges of the ribbon candy.
Another personal favorite, always gets a big "wow"--rock candy on old-fashioned wooden sticks.
Watermelon, lemon, orange and cherry rock candy.
Strawberry, lemon and peppermint taffy wands (orange and banana were a great match too!)
I think I lucked out when I found these pink and green gingham mints! Perfect match to theme AND color scheme.
Old fashioned swirled lollipops make the perfect topper for any present, like this one!
For a modern take on lollipops, I am LOVING these marshmallow ones!
Mint chocolate chip meringues are a lovely soft shade of green, and I added because my sister Julia loves anything mint chocolate chip--and she was, after all, my first "client" when I started planning her birthday parties at the age of 10! These are for you, Julia!
My favorite favor cartons yet, our gingham collection! Perfect filled with a lightweight treat.
I adore pastries, and these cream filled puffs are incredibly sweet.
A cream filled lemon cake roll looks stunning when sliced up, love the swirly pattern.
Lemon-filled cookies, dusted with powdered sugar, keep the vintage flavor of the design.
Another angle of the full view of the sweet table.
Custom gingham candy jar labels and signs were a precious addition to the table.

These darling labels and signs will soon be available in our shoppe, in 3 different sizes to fit whatever container you use.
My little cousin just LOVES strawberry milk piled high with whipped cream. Thus, the inspiration for these sweet treats added to the sweet table. I must say, I am quite a fan myself!

Sometimes it's hard to keep track of which drink belongs to which guest, so our custom gingham flags, easily attached to straws, eliminate that issue and add loads of charm to the beverage!
Elizabeth shouldn't forget where she left her shake, now (not to mention it will taste that much sweeter drinking it out of a straw with her name on it!)
One for Isabel too!
A side view of the table, once the strawberry milk and whipped cream shakes were added!
Hope you enjoyed this sweet gingham inspiration! For *amazing* photos of a darling sweet table designed in the studio for Life: Beautiful Magazine, check out the summer 2010 issue! It contains some sweets that are cuter than you could imagine!
